Clinical Optimization Services Consultant

Essential Duties
1. Serves as a strategic business partner to physicians/providers and clinical operations leadership and staff to assist in restructuring clinical and business workflows for enhanced optimization in clinic practices. Identifies gaps and solutions to both small and large-scale initiatives. Implements operational processes and ensures effective operational practices.
2. Coordinates analysis of documentation and workflows in departments/sections and makes recommendations to design/redesign system components to support appropriate workflows. Analyzes existing methods and develops alternatives to improve operations. Performs assessments for complex workflows within clinical areas. Identifies potential process and/or department-specific risks and assists in strategies to mitigate or resolve.
3. Develops and follows assessment work plans. Leads assessment meetings and works cooperatively with team members to coordinate assigned duties with the overall program.
4. Delivers and communicates assessments and plan initiatives to key stakeholders within the Medical School.
5. Authors and develops detailed and highly complex written assessments outlining the department or clinic’s performance, including findings, conclusions and recommendations. Conducts proofreading, editing, document formatting to those assessments, ensuring quality standards are upheld.
6. Collect and analyze operational, physician/provider productivity, patient satisfaction and staffing ratio data. 7.Perform assessment specific ad-hoc data analysis when applicable.
8.Ensure adherence to Yale Medicine practice standards.
9. Delivers assigned documents on or before deadline, alerting assessment stakeholders in a timely manner of any anticipated delays, information gaps or potential shortcomings in quality.
10.Track the progress of multiple assessments on an ongoing basis.
11.Track assessment deliverables and post assessment recommendations using appropriate tools.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration or related field and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience or equivalent amount of education and experience.

Position Focus:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Clinical Optimization Services, The Clinical Optimization Services Consultant will conduct operational assessments of Yale School of Medicine departments ambulatory patient care sites. Working with broad guidelines, the clinical optimization associate will work closely with ambulatory staff (operations and clinical), faculty, department / section senior leadership, Yale Medicine and Yale New Haven Health System senior leadership to assess operational workflows and perform detailed data analysis. The Clinical Optimization Services Consultant will independently be responsible for the development of clinical optimization assessments by way of detailed written and analytical data analysis to yield: enhanced processes, revenue cycle improvements, and improve patient, physician and provider satisfaction. The Clinical Optimization Services Consultant will consistently communicate with key stakeholders via written or face-to-face communication to ensure they are fully informed of the assessment’s progression and aid in the implementation of assessment recommendations by facilitating post assessment workgroups. The Clinical Optimization Services Consultant will typically work with each Yale School of Medicine department/section for 6 months to 1 year to complete the assessment and work with them to implement assessment recommendations.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Master’s Degree Highly preferred. Working knowledge of Epic, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint; MS Word, work experience in the healthcare, public health, consulting, and change management fields.
